Thiruvananthapuram, July 1st – The appointment of Ravada A Chandrasekhar as the new state police chief was announced today, marking a significant change in the leadership of the state’s law enforcement agency. Unlike the previous two appointments in 2021 and 2023, where intense lobbying and last-minute negotiations resulted in the selection of Anil Kant and Shaik Darvesh Saheb respectively, this year’s appointment saw a less contested process.

The government was faced with three suitable candidates from the UPSC shortlist: Nitin Agarwal, Ravada, and Yogesh Gupta. This abundance of qualified candidates made the decision-making process less challenging compared to previous instances. In 2021, the selection was between Anil Kant and B Sandhya, while in 2023 it was Shaik Darvesh Saheb and K Padmakumar who were in contention for the position.

The appointment of Ravada A Chandrasekhar as the new police chief comes at a time when the state is grappling with several significant security challenges, including the ongoing border dispute and increasing instances of cybercrime. His extensive experience in the intelligence bureau and his proven leadership skills are expected to play a crucial role in addressing these issues.

The appointment was met with a mixed response from various quarters. While some welcomed the decision, citing Ravada’s impeccable record and commitment to duty, others raised concerns about his handling of sensitive cases in the past. However, it is hoped that under Ravada’s leadership, the state police force will continue to uphold its mission of maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens of this state.

As the new police chief takes over, all eyes are on him to see how he navigates through the complex web of challenges that lie ahead. With his proven track record and commitment to duty, there is a sense of optimism that under Ravada’s leadership, the state police force will continue to serve its citizens diligently and effectively.
