Thiruvananthapuram, September 9 – In an effort to enhance road safety and reduce accidents caused by drivers’ inability to see certain areas while driving, the Kerala Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has announced that blind spot mirrors will be mandatory on large vehicles, including buses and lorries, starting from November 1.
As part of the preparation for this mandate, the MVD will organize local awareness camps along with training sessions to help drivers understand how to effectively use these mirrors. The aim is to ensure that all drivers are well-versed in their operation before they become compulsory.
The installation of blind spot mirrors on large vehicles is expected to significantly improve visibility for drivers, thus reducing the number of accidents that occur due to drivers’ inability to see certain areas when driving. This initiative aligns with the Kerala government’s commitment to enhancing road safety and promoting a safer driving environment.
The MVD emphasized that the training sessions will cover all aspects of using these mirrors, including their proper installation, adjustment, and usage during various driving conditions.
