KOCHI: Kerala took a significant stride towards its digital transformation on Saturday, as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the LuLu Group’s state-of-the-art IT Twin Towers at SmartCity, Kakkanad. This Rs 1,500-crore project marks a key milestone in the state’s transformation into a digitally driven, knowledge-powered economy.

Strategically located within the SmartCity Kochi SEZ, the 152-metre-tall towers are now the tallest and largest IT infrastructure in South India, offering a total built-up area of 3.5 million sqft. Of this, 2.5 million sqft is leasable space.

The LuLu Group’s IT Twin Towers have attracted four companies — EXL, OPI, Dynamed, and Selise — which have collectively taken up 2.5 lakh sqft of the leasable area. These companies are expected to create hundreds of job opportunities for the local workforce in the coming months.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, who was present at the inauguration, lauded the project as a testament to Kerala’s commitment to digital advancement. He expressed confidence that this investment will foster innovation and skill development in the region.

The IT Twin Towers are part of Infopark Phase 2, an extension of the existing InfoPark at Kakkanad, which is home to numerous tech companies. The towers are expected to further boost the economy of Kerala by attracting more investments and creating employment opportunities.

The project has been widely welcomed by the local political parties, including the Congress, with Thillanker Ryass, the state secretary of the party, stating that such initiatives will help in job creation and economic development.

Meanwhile, the management at LuLu Group expressed gratitude to the Kerala government for their support in realizing this ambitious project. The group has also promised to uphold its commitment towards sustainable practices and community engagement, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
