THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian announced on Wednesday that the state of Kerala will finalize a comprehensive film policy by the end of 2025. The announcement was made during the unveiling ceremony of the logo of the Kerala Policy Conclave, an event aimed at discussing and refining the draft policy prepared under the leadership of filmmaker Shaji N Karun in 2023.

The two-day Kerala Policy Conclave is scheduled to take place on August 2 and 3 this year at Sankaranarayanan Thampi Hall in Thiruvananthapuram. Over 500 figures from the Indian and international film industry, along with representatives from 17 states that have already introduced film policies, are expected to attend the event.

The Kerala government’s proposed film policy is a significant step towards strengthening the state’s position as a leading hub for cinema in India. The draft policy, which has been under development since 2023, aims to provide a conducive environment for filmmakers and boost investment in the state’s film industry.

Notable personalities from the Indian film industry such as Suresh Gopi, Kamal Haasan, and others are expected to grace the occasion with their presence, contributing valuable insights during discussions on various aspects of the policy.

The Kerala Policy Conclave is expected to serve as a platform for fostering collaborations between Kerala’s film industry and its counterparts from other regions, thereby promoting cultural exchange and mutual growth.
