In a developing story out of Nedumangad, Kerala, the state police’s anti-terrorist squad is delving into a complaint filed by a 15-year-old boy who alleges that his mother and her partner attempted to persuade him to join the Islamic State. The boy returned from Leicester, UK earlier this year.
The partner in question, identified as Ansar, is the younger brother of Siddique, a former convict in the Kanakamala IS module case. This cell, busted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in October 2016, was alleged to have planned terror attacks across Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The mother, originally a Christian, converted to Islam after her marriage to a Muslim. The investigation is currently underway, and more details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
