The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for five districts in Kerala, predicting heavy rainfall from July 2 to July 5. According to the IMD’s forecast, isolated heavy rain of between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours is likely across the state during this period.

The alert has been issued for Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Kannur, Ernakulam, and Wayanad districts. In a statement, the IMD warned residents of potential disruption due to heavy rainfall and advised them to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines during this time.

The warning comes as a low-pressure area has developed over Jharkhand, which is expected to bring widespread rain across Kerala. The IMD expects wind speeds in the state to reach between 40 to 50 km/hr until July 3.

As always, residents are advised to monitor the IMD website or local news for updates on the weather situation in their area and follow any safety guidelines issued by the authorities.
