In a statement released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it has been predicted that Kerala will witness heavy rainfall over the next two days. The department has issued a yellow alert for three districts, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta, suggesting the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in these areas.

According to the IMD, the state can expect to receive 7 cm to 11 cm of rain in isolated places till November 27. The department has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning during this period.

In light of these forecasts, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to squally weather with wind speeds ranging from 35 kmph to 45 kmph, and gusts reaching up to 55 kmph that is expected to prevail along and off the Kerala coast.

The IMD’s warning comes as the state has been experiencing a series of heavy rains in recent days. In a related development, the Kerala government has appealed for vigilance and preparedness among local authorities to manage any potential flood situations arising from the heavy rainfall.

As per the latest data, the southern districts of Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Pathanamthitta have received significant amounts of rain in the past 24 hours. The IMD has urged the public to stay updated with their forecasts and take necessary precautions during this period.

This weather update serves as a reminder for all residents and tourists alike to remain cautious and adhere to safety guidelines issued by local authorities during periods of inclement weather.
