Thiruvananthapuram, 28th November 2025: In a bid to strengthen Centre-state interactions, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested the Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kerala to intervene in securing President’s assent for the Wildlife Protection (Kerala Amendment) Bill. The bill, which was passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly, simplifies major hurdles in the 11th section of the Wildlife Protection Law 1972.
During an online meeting held on Thursday, the CM emphasized the importance of this legislation and urged the MPs to raise the demand for the disbursement of central funds. The bill aims to streamline certain procedures related to wildlife protection, thereby facilitating effective conservation efforts within the state.
In addition to the Wildlife Protection (Kerala Amendment) Bill, the Chief Minister also highlighted the need for releasing two tranches of funds totaling Rs 10,080 crore that were previously cut from Kerala’s borrowing limits. He requested the MPs to advocate for this release at the national level.
