In a bid to improve the darshan experience and reduce waiting times during peak hours at the revered Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, the Kerala High Court has directed the Guruvayur Devaswom Board to devise a scientific crowd management plan. The order was passed by a bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and K V Jayakumar while hearing multiple petitions concerning issues at the temple, particularly crowd control.

The court has instructed the temple authorities to consult with various stakeholders before preparing the action plan and submit it within two months for review. The move is expected to address concerns related to overcrowding and long queues that have been reported during busy hours.

It is notable that the Guruvayur Devaswom Board has already introduced an online booking system for darshan at the temple, a measure aimed at streamlining the crowd flow. However, the court’s directive comes as a response to ongoing issues related to managing the large number of devotees visiting the temple.

The Kerala High Court, known for its aggressive approach in political matters pertaining to Kerala, has been actively engaging with issues concerning the Guruvayur temple. The court’s intervention follows multiple complaints and petitions submitted by devotees and locals, expressing concerns over the management of the temple during peak hours.

As the temple authorities comply with the court’s directive, it remains to be seen how the proposed plan will address the existing issues at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple and improve the experience for its millions of devotees.
