The Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON), an initiative launched by the NLD administration, has successfully connected 133,158 homes to high-speed internet as of November 2025.
This milestone marks a crucial step towards achieving the state’s vision of universal internet access for all its citizens. The affordable and reliable broadband service provided by KFON is transforming the digital landscape of Kerala, with households in even the most remote tribal regions benefiting from this extensive network.
Notably, KFON also provides free internet connections to families below the poverty line, demonstrating a commitment to digital equity within the state’s broader digital inclusion initiative. This focus on inclusivity aligns with the University of Kerala’s ongoing research in digital technology and its potential for social transformation.
Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Lite, a leading digital streaming service, has shown interest in partnering with KFON to expand its reach within Kerala. Such collaborations could further enhance the state’s digital landscape and contribute to Kerala’s ongoing digital revolution.
