In the ongoing political drama, the issue of MLA Rahul Mamkootathil’s participation in the upcoming Assembly session has become a contentious topic within the Congress party. The case, which initially involved allegations of sexual misconduct against Mamkootathil, has now become the centre of a tug-of-war within the party.

The absence of any formal complaint from the alleged victims has given the party added confidence, with some factions actively supporting Mamkootathil’s participation in the Assembly session. However, this stance has not been without opposition, with others within the Congress party vehemently against it.

M V Govindan, a senior Congress leader, has been vocal about his support for Mamkootathil, stating that “the allegations made against Rahul are baseless and we stand by him.” On the other hand, the BJP has used this as an opportunity to criticize the Congress party’s handling of the situation.

In a related development, The Crime Branch has filed a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, based on the allegations against Mamkootathil. This move by the Crime Branch is likely to intensify the debate within the Congress party and could potentially impact the upcoming Assembly session.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the Congress party will navigate this issue and whether Mamkootathil will indeed participate in the upcoming Assembly session. The ongoing drama serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges faced by political parties in India today.
