In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector’s resilience against climate change, the Kerala Climate Resilient Agri Value Chain Modernization Project (KERA) and the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership seeks to implement innovative climate-smart and low-emission farming practices in Kerala.

The MoU was signed on July 6, 2025, by Vishnu Raj, Additional Project Director of KERA, and Dr Anith KN, Director of Research at KAU. A Sakeer Husain, Registrar of KAU, was also present during the signing ceremony.

The collaboration between these two entities is expected to provide a significant boost to Kerala’s agricultural sector by introducing modern and sustainable farming practices that are resilient to climate change. The focus will be on enhancing productivity, improving quality, and reducing emissions, all while ensuring food security for the state.

The project aims to leverage cutting-edge technology and research to transform the agriculture value chain in Kerala. This includes the adoption of precision farming techniques, modern irrigation systems, and sustainable use of resources.

As climate change continues to pose challenges to agriculture worldwide, such collaborative efforts are crucial for developing climate-resilient agriculture systems. The successful implementation of this project could serve as a model for other states in India and potentially inspire similar initiatives globally.
