In a worrying development, a section of a building at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital in Kerala collapsed on Friday, causing panic among patients and staff. The incident has raised concerns over the safety and maintenance of public infrastructure in the state.

The collapse occurred around 10:30 AM local time and resulted in no reported casualties, according to the hospital authorities. However, the incident has sparked outrage among locals and health workers who have demanded immediate action from the government.

“We cannot afford such incidents in a medical college that caters to thousands of patients every day,” said Dr. V.N. Vasavan, the President of the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association. “The government must conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of the patients and staff.”

The Kerala Devaswom, the state body responsible for maintaining public buildings, has promised a comprehensive probe into the incident. In a statement, they said, “We understand the gravity of this situation and are committed to taking all necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future.”

In a bid to increase transparency and foster scientific literacy among its readers, The View From India has launched a new weekly science newsletter named “Science For All”. This initiative aims to make complex scientific concepts accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

“We believe that understanding science is crucial in today’s world,” said Amal Pradeep, the editor of The View From India. “Our goal with ‘Science For All’ is to demystify science and help our readers appreciate its importance.”

As the investigation into the Kottayam Medical College Hospital incident continues, concerns over safety and maintenance of public infrastructure remain at the forefront. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
