Thiruvananthapuram: Five prominent educational institutions in Kerala have been listed among 89 higher education institutions across the country, highlighted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for failing to adhere to anti-ragging regulations. The affected institutions include IIT Palakkad, Kerala Kalamandalam, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University, and Sree Narayana Guru Open University.

In a recent correspondence to the institutions, the UGC has conveyed its concerns about their lack of compliance with the anti-ragging regulations. The identified institutions have been given a deadline to respond to the show-cause notices issued by the commission, failing which they may face severe actions.

The UGC’s move comes in the wake of reports of ragging incidents in some educational institutions across the nation. The commission has emphasized strict adherence to these regulations to ensure a safe and conducive environment for students on campus.

It is important to note that the University Grants Commission is responsible for coordination, determination, and maintenance of standards of university education. The commission also oversees the overall control of research and recognition of universities in India.

As of now, it remains to be seen how these institutions respond to the show-cause notices issued by the UGC. Stay informed as we bring you more updates on this developing story from the world of education.
