Thiruvananthapuram: The Central GST Department presented the prestigious honor to Superstar Mohanlal during the GST Day celebrations held at Tagore Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram. The actor was recognized as the highest Goods and Services Tax (GST) paying actor from the Malayalam film industry for the year 2024-25.

The event, which was part of the nationwide GST Day celebrations, saw Mohanlal being honored for his significant contributions to the state’s economy through his tax payments under the GST regime. The recognition underscores the importance of the film industry in Kerala’s economic landscape and the role played by high-profile personalities like Mohanlal in adhering to fiscal policies.

The State Finance Minister, K N Balagopal, had earlier expressed concerns about Kerala not receiving its rightful share of GST revenue from goods imported into the state. The recognition given to Mohanlal, being a prominent figure in the Malayalam film industry, highlights the potential for increased revenue collection through compliance within the sector.

This honor follows Mohanlal’s recent string of successful films and accolades, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the Indian cinema landscape. Despite these achievements, the actor remains grounded and dedicated to using his influence for social causes, making him an inspirational figure both on and off the screen.

As Kerala continues its economic journey, the film industry plays a crucial role in contributing to the state’s growth and development. The recognition given to Mohanlal serves as a testament to the sector’s potential and the importance of adhering to fiscal policies for sustainable economic growth.
