In a shocking development on Sunday, the Puthukkad police station in Thrissur arrested a 23-year-old woman and her male friend in connection with the murder of their two newborns. The arrests followed an unexpected incident on Saturday night when Bhavin, a 25-year-old native of Amballur, walked into the police station carrying a bag containing skeletal remains, reportedly of two infants.

According to the Thrissur district police, Bhavin confessed that his girlfriend, Aneesha, had killed the newborns over the past four years due to fear of societal stigma associated with unmarried motherhood. Forensic analysis conducted on the remains confirmed them to be those of two newborn babies, matching the description provided by Bhavin and corroborated by circumstantial evidence gathered during the investigation.

The police have launched a thorough probe into the matter, with Aneesha admitting to giving birth to the infants in secret and disposing of their bodies in different locations around Thrissur. The investigations are ongoing, and further details regarding the case are expected to be released soon.

This incident has sparked a nationwide discussion on the societal stigma faced by unmarried mothers and the need for greater support and understanding towards such individuals. It is a stark reminder of the challenges women face in our society, particularly in rural areas where traditional norms often prevail. The Thrissur police have appealed to anyone with information regarding this case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
