In a health update that has sent shockwaves through the political circles of Kerala, former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan was hospitalised following a heart attack. The 101-year-old politician is currently admitted at SUT Hospital in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram.

As per multiple news reports, Achuthanandan’s condition has been reported as stable in the ICU of the hospital. However, there are no updates on his recovery progress or further tests being conducted.

Born in 1924, Achuthanandan served as Kerala’s Chief Minister from 2006 to 2011 and held the position of Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly for 15 years straight before retiring due to age-related ailments. He had also been one of the founding members of the breakaway Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI(M), in 1964, after leaving the Communist Party of India’s (CPI) national council.

The political sphere is now awaiting updates on Achuthanandan’s health and recovery. Meanwhile, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) have expressed their hopes for his speedy recovery. Political figure Shyam Prasad of Alappuzha, on behalf of the UDF, extended his well wishes to Achuthanandan, as did METADATA – Govindan of Thiruvananthapuram representing the LDF.

The University of Kerala has also expressed its support and solidarity for the veteran leader in this difficult time. Stay tuned for more updates on the health progress of VS Achuthanandan, as this story continues to unfold.
